Gangstagrass
Gangstagrass is here to help us party together with an irresistible blend of America's rural and urban music traditions. Forget everything you thought you knew about our cultural divisions: when Gangstagrass starts playing, those preconceptions are relegated to the dustbin of history. Banjo and fiddle seamlessly meet verbal acrobatics from skilled MCs. High lonesome harmonies flow over block-rockin’ beats. Initially known for the Emmy-nominated theme song to the hit FX Network show “Justified”, the band has become a formidable force in live performance, touring extensively in the US, Canada, and Europe. Their 2020 album "No Time For Enemies" reached #1 on the Billboard Bluegrass charts, the first time ever that MCs occupied that top spot. More recently, between an appearance on national television that made everyone's highlights list, and a glowing New York Times op-ed titled “This Is The Music America Needs,” the band is geared up to get us dancing on common ground with their new full length album "The Blackest Thing On The Menu."

For Mon Rovia, ‘Atonement’ is Just the Beginning
When one really digs below the surface of Mon Rovîa, there’s this intricate kaleidoscope of self, this winding path where the road to the here and now for the singer-songwriter has truly been one of restless resilience, dogged passion, and spiritual curiosity. The rising artist has already lived this whirlwind existence of trials and tribulations, but also one of triumph and transcendence. Born in the West African country of Liberia, Mon Rovîa (taking his stage name from Liberia’s capital city) was adopted by Christian missionaries and taken from his homeland in the midst of an extremely violent and daunting civil war,
Tanner Adell - Cowboy Break My Heart
Starting our final week of Ones To Watch 2025 before Christmas is rising country star, Tanner Adell. Brought up between the coast of Manhattan Beach, California and the rustic charm of Star Valley, Wyoming, Tanner weaves tales of her upbringing in her lyricism with a country soundscape infused with an addictive blend of pop and hip-hop beats.
Country Music Almanac 2025
In this issue we catch up with phenomenal songsmith Fancy Hagood about how he’s found his voice within country music. We also check in with Saaneah, who was featured on Alice Randall’s My Black Country and made her debut on the Grand Ole Opry, seemingly the first Nashville-born Black woman to perform on the show. We consider what the CMA Awards giving Beyoncé a cold shoulder — for a second time — says about the industry. We recommend 10 artists to keep an eye on this year, and we hand over the mic to journalists and historians for their take on the highs, lows and in-betweens of country in our survey. It’s a big table; pull up a chair and dig in.
