Cactus Rose NYC is a native americana act featuring indigenous/black singer-songwriter Kandia Crazy Horse (Pamunkey), indigenous guitarist Lonnie Harrington (Seminole/Shawnee/Cherokee) & guitarist Jeff McLaughlin. Influenced by Richie Havens, Buffalo Springfield, Brandi Carlile, and Tuscarora/Taino icon Pura Fé, their music focuses on experiences of urban natives and others of Indian Country. Since the release of her critically acclaimed debut "Stampede," Kandia & Cactus Rose NYC have graced stages including performing at the Brooklyn Americana festival, the Another Country festival, the Grand Ole Echo @ SXSW and beyond. She has organized , curated, and performed at benefits for Indian Country. Kandia’s songs also mine her unique experiences growing up between various countries in Africa and Washington DC to forge her compelling style of Americana. The trio performs sounds that unify southeastern roots music and Laurel Canyon styles with indigenous futures. Cactus Rose NYC plays throughout Lenapehoking (NYC) where they’re based. In December 2023, Kandia received the Color Me Country grant from Newport Festivals Foundation.
